I think there is an error, see image bellow, I think there shouldn't be a semicolon.

You seem to be using the word "brackets" a lot in this section, but every single example shows parentheses.

Is the "brackets" wrong, and you mean "parentheses," or are the "()" wrong and you mean "[]"?

I would have assumed it was a typo and used context to figure it out, but it happens repeatedly.

The book uses the convention of brackets, square brackets, and curly brackets but you are right. It should be parentheses, brackets, and curly braces.
Should be improved.
