In question it is stated that the client is local, so when bean (with TX REQUIRED) throws a system exception the client will receive javax.ejb.EJBTransactionRolledbackException and not javax.transaction.TransactionRolledbackException, which is thrown to remote clients.
I forgot to add that only transaction in the explanation is wrong.
