You will find many tutorials with different patterns having slight variations. You need not worry about all those. Just follow the one mentioned here: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/ ... 37601.html

I have not gone through the link you mentioned, but from the name of the patterns, it looks like the difference between the two is that you acquire the reference to a DAO instance using a Factory in case of DAO factory.
