As I understand it synchronized, native, transient, volatile and strictfp are not on the test. Correct? Why are they included here then?

These are included in valid keywords. You need to have a basic understanding of all the keywords. You will notice that the question(s) referring to these keywords do not require you to know any details about them.

Well to be fair you need to know enough about them to know whether they apply to methods, classes, variables or some combination thereof.
