Nonaccess modifiers synchronized and transient used in this question (and native, volatile, and strictfp used in other questions) are stated in OCA Java SE Certification Guide by Mala Gupta not to be in the exam. Is it likely that actual exam questions will use them in the code?

Exam objectives list "Declare and initialize variables" as a topic. They have not explicitly mentioned any modifier. So you should at least know the basics about these two.
