It is one of the best days in my life! Today (20 May 2016) I took my Java test and got 90%! And preparation strategy was so simple for the short period of time. Here I share my practice in the purpose of new test takers will get motivated.
Till the beginning of May, I knew about Java very few things. Used rarely in online contests. I knew how to use for, if, else, while, switch and primitive data types. But I don't know
- OOP, i.e. why the main method created with static keyword, what String[] args mean;
- Exceptions;
- Other data types like Arraylist, StringBuilder;
- Inheritance, polymorphism, casting;
etc.
The University where I want to study in the USA required me this test. Then I began to learn more about Java in order to pass the exam from Edward Finegan and Robert Liguori's Study Guide for the Java test. This is a very good source for the beginners: explained main concepts in short, simple way, but this is not enough.
Later discovered Mala Gupta's book where everything explained more deeply in more fun way.
Because I read the first book I didn't want to read the next one entirely.
May 13. I registered for the exam to the next week (20th).
When I searched practice tests I found Enthuware's practice book. I tried first standard test as it was suggested. Result: 35%
I must be ready after 1 week. Then switched off my phone, stopped working as a freelancer (I am a web developer and write in PHP). 8-10 hours per day learned every question's answer and explanation from objective-wise part. Completed everything on 18 May. Next day I tried Last day exam: a bit more than 80%. It was affordable for me. At the beginning of the (Enthuware's) book, it is stated that your real exam result will be about 10% more than this mimic tests. It was absolutely true: I got 90%.
As a summary: in 20 days I got very good score from such a tricky test and I am very thankful for Enthuware for such a great book and web source.
Without you, I can't even imagine such a high score.
