I don't agree with the question answers. It states that third answer is false In my opinion is also true.
"A synchronous servlet is allowed to dispatch a request to servlet that supports asynchronous processing."
This is allowed because the servlet that "supports" asynchronous processing can be acting as a synchronous servlet. It only will throw an IllegalStateException if it tries to start and asynchronous cycle.
See Section 2.3.3.3 of the Servlet 3.0 specification
"Dispatching from a synchronous servlet to an asynchronous servlet would be illegal.
However the decision of throwing an IllegalStateException is differed to the
point when the application calls startAsync. This would allow a servlet to either
function as a synchronous or an asynchronous servlet."
